Geotone publishes statistics about news coverage. It has no user accounts, no advertising, no tracking cookies, and it never sells or shares personal data. This page lists everything the service does collect.

Website

Pages are served through Cloudflare, which processes request metadata (IP address, User-Agent, requested URL) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Aggregate traffic statistics come from Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not fingerprint or track visitors across sites. Geotone sets no cookies and uses no third-party advertising or social trackers.

Requests from self-identified AI agents and crawlers (by User-Agent) are counted by agent name and page path so we can see which pages automated readers use. Ordinary browser visits are not logged this way.

API and MCP server

The REST API (docs) and the MCP server at geotone.news/mcp need no account, key, or login, and receive no conversation content — only the tool or endpoint called and its arguments. For each uncached call we record: the endpoint or tool name, the arguments (for example a topic slug, country code, or search keyword), whether it returned results, the client name and version the software reports about itself, the User-Agent, and the caller's IP address. These records are used for rate limiting (60 requests/minute per IP), abuse prevention, and understanding which data is useful. They are retained for about 90 days in Cloudflare Analytics Engine and then deleted automatically. They are never sold, shared, or used to identify individuals.

All tools are read-only queries over Geotone's own dataset. The MCP server cannot read, store, or modify anything on the connecting user's side.

Email alerts

If you subscribe to alerts, we store your email address and the topics or countries you chose, solely to send the alerts you asked for. Addresses are verified by confirmation link before anything is sent. Every email contains a one-click unsubscribe link, which deletes your address and watches.

Service providers

Cloudflare (hosting, delivery, analytics, databases) and Resend (delivery of alert emails) process data on Geotone's behalf. No other third parties receive visitor or subscriber data.

Requests and contact

To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, email contact@geotone.news. Support requests for the API and MCP server go to the same address. Material changes to this policy are reflected in the date above.
